Amaravati, Dec 11 (NationPress) Former YSRCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and his sibling Venkatarami Reddy voluntarily surrendered before a court in Palnadu district concerning the double-murder of TDP workers.
Following the directives of the Supreme Court, the Pinnelli brothers presented themselves at the Junior Additional Civil Court in Macherla.
In late November, the Supreme Court rejected their anticipatory bail requests and mandated their surrender to the lower court within two weeks.
To avert any potential disturbances, law enforcement had arranged extensive security near the courthouse.
The former MLA from Macherla and his brother are identified as the sixth and seventh accused in this grave double murder case.
Two TDP workers, Javishetti Venkateswarlu and Koteswara Rao, were murdered in May 2025.
The victims, from Gundlapadu village, were killed near Bodilaveedu in Veldurthi mandal while returning from a wedding in Telangana when a sport utility vehicle allegedly collided with their motorcycle and dragged them along the road.
Upon realizing that one of the victims was still alive, the attackers brutally struck him with a stone before fleeing, leaving their vehicle behind.
After the Pinnelli brothers were implicated in the FIR, the YSR Congress Party accused the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of engaging in political vengeance.
The YSRCP claimed that the FIR was filed under pressure from local TDP MLA Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy, citing media reports and statements from the district SP, which suggested that the double murder arose from intra-party factionalism within the TDP.
Since the TDP-led NDA assumed power last year, the Palnadu police had opened rowdy sheets against the Pinnelli siblings for their alleged criminal activities during the general elections.
The former MLA has been implicated in 14 criminal cases, while his brother faces more than six.
Moreover, during the elections, the ex-MLA reportedly damaged an electronic voting machine (EVM) at a polling station in Macherla, while a TDP agent attempted to prevent him from doing so. Subsequently, Ramakrishna Reddy allegedly conspired to kill the agent on the same day, prompting a police case to be filed.
