Andhra Pradesh Police Detain 11 Individuals for Assault on TDP Office

Vijayawada, Dec 6 (NationPress) The police in Andhra Pradesh have taken action by arresting 11 individuals on Friday, one of whom is a personal aide to YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former MLA, Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan. This arrest pertains to the incident involving the attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office located in Gannavaram that occurred in February of the previous year. Among those detained is Raja, the personal assistant to Vamsi.

The arrests took place in various regions including Vijayawada Rural, Gannavaram, Bapulapadu, Ungutur, and other nearby areas.

Former MLA Vamsi has also been implicated in this case. However, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had issued a directive in August instructing police to avoid taking any coercive measures against him.

The allegations suggest that the YSRCP leader incited his followers to vandalize the TDP office in his constituency, located in the NTR district, during February 2023 while the YSRCP was in power.

Vamsi, who switched allegiance from TDP to YSRCP in 2020, has been a vocal opponent of the TDP and its National President, N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The TDP office in Gannavaram faced significant damage, with reports of vehicles belonging to TDP leaders being vandalized and two cars set ablaze by supporters of Vamsi affiliated with YSRCP.

This incident transpired following a confrontation between TDP and YSRCP members, ignited by derogatory comments made by Vamsi regarding Chandrababu Naidu and TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh.

After the TDP coalition regained power in June, Vamsi's residence was reportedly attacked by TDP supporters.

Vamsi also faced defeat in the Gannavaram Assembly elections, a seat he had won in 2019 as a TDP member before his defection to YSRCP.

Following Chandrababu Naidu's return as Chief Minister, a renewed investigation was initiated concerning various attacks on TDP offices, including a notable incident in 2021 targeting the party's central office in Mangalagiri.

A significant number of YSRCP supporters allegedly assaulted the TDP office on October 19, 2021, after TDP spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram made contentious remarks against then Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Individuals such as former YSRCP MLC Nandigama Suresh, MLCs Lella Appi Reddy and Talasila Raghuram, along with party figure Devineni Avinash, have been named in the case concerning the attack on the TDP central office.

In October, YSRCP General Secretary and former government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy was also interrogated regarding this case.
