Ranchi, April 10 (NationPress) The Ranchi Police have successfully cracked the murder case involving BJP leader Anil Mahato, popularly known as Anil Tiger, arresting four suspects, including the fugitive shooter Aman, according to an official report. The investigation indicated that the murder was rooted in a land dispute.
During a press briefing on Thursday evening, Ranchi DIG and SSP Chandan Sinha disclosed that a plot to assassinate him was masterminded by land dealer Devvrat Nath Shahdev, who resides in Kishore Ganj, Ranchi.
“Shahdev had a conflict with BJP leader Anil Tiger regarding the ownership of 10 acres of land in Gagi Khatanga village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kanke police station,” he explained.
The police investigation uncovered that seven individuals were involved in this conspiracy -- Devvrat Nath Shahdev, Abhishek Sinha, Rohit Verma, Aman Singh, Zeeshan Akhtar, Manish Chaurasia, and Ajay Kumar Rajak.
Out of these, four individuals -- Aman Singh, Manish Chaurasia, Zeeshan Akhtar, and Ajay Kumar -- have been apprehended.
Anil Tiger was tragically shot in broad daylight on March 26 at approximately 4 p.m. while he was seated inside a hotel at Kanke Chowk in Ranchi.
This shocking incident caused a wave of anger throughout the city, prompting numerous political and social groups to demand a shutdown of Ranchi on March 27, which received considerable public support.
After the murder, one of the two shooters, Rohit Verma, was captured following a police confrontation. However, his accomplice, Aman, managed to escape and remained elusive for two weeks.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), established to look into this high-profile case, managed to apprehend Aman with assistance from the police technical cell.
In addition to Aman, two other suspects have been detained for scouting the BJP leader and aiding in the conspiracy. Police conducted raids at multiple locations to capture the remaining suspects.
Authorities are also interrogating Sunny Singh, a known criminal from Kishore Ganj, who is currently in custody.
Initially, Rohit Verma claimed that the murder was an act of retribution for the killing of criminal Santosh Jaiswal in Lohardaga district, allegedly ordered by Anil Tiger.
However, police have since determined that this was a calculated attempt to mislead the investigation.
Currently, fresh evidence indicates that a property dispute was the real motive, with a land dealer identified as the mastermind behind the assassination.
