Sagar, Dec 10 (NationPress) Tragically, four members of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) from the Madhya Pradesh Police lost their lives in a road accident early Wednesday morning in the Sagar district. The incident took place on National Highway (NH-44) in the Bandari Malthon area as the police personnel were returning from Balaghat to Morena.
The police vehicle collided with a heavily loaded truck, resulting in the immediate death of the four jawans. They have been identified as Praduman Dikshit, Aman Kaurav, Parmal Tomar, and Vinod Sharma.
All four were part of the state police's dog and bomb squads. In addition, Sub-Inspector Rajeev Chauhan suffered severe injuries and has been admitted to Bansal Hospital in Bhopal, based on initial reports from authorities.
Three of the deceased hailed from Morena, while one came from the nearby Bhind district. One sniffer dog was also injured in the incident.
The accident occurred as the police jawans were traveling towards Morena on NH-44, where their vehicle struck a truck-container.
The exact cause of the collision has yet to be determined. The police vehicle was severely damaged, with the bodies trapped inside.
A JCB machine was required to cut open the vehicle and retrieve the bodies from the wreckage. The truck-container driver has been detained and is currently being interrogated at a police station. Senior police officials and district administration personnel arrived at the scene to commence an investigation.
The deceased's bodies have been extracted from the vehicle and dispatched for post-mortem examinations, with further investigations ongoing.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the affected families. In a message on the social media platform X, Dr. Yadav remarked, "Four policemen returning from an anti-Naxal operation were killed in a tragic road accident in Sagar district." He paid tribute to the deceased and wished for a swift recovery for the injured.
