Fulham Maintains Unbeaten Streak with 2-2 Draw Against Ipswich Town

London, Jan 5 (NationPress) Fulham commenced 2025 with an exhilarating 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage against Ipswich Town, a match characterized by an intense struggle laden with drama and penalties.

The outcome extended Fulham's unbeaten run in the Premier League to eight matches, but the day was highlighted by three penalty goals and numerous near-misses.

Despite facing considerable pressure throughout the match, Ipswich initially took the lead in the first half. A defensive mistake allowed Sammie Szmodics to capitalize, sending the ball past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno after a chaotic moment in the box. This was a harsh setback for Fulham, who had controlled possession and nearly found the net through Tom Cairney’s almost-wonder goal and Raul Jimenez’s header, which was saved by Ipswich’s Christian Walton.

In the second half, Fulham’s unyielding pressure persisted. Following several promising attacks, the match transformed into a penalty-filled affair. The first spot-kick was awarded in the 65th minute when Harry Wilson was fouled in the box by Ipswich’s Sam Morsy. Referee Darren Bond initially allowed play to continue, but after a VAR review, the call was reversed, and Jimenez coolly converted the penalty, leveling the score.

Yet, the excitement didn’t end there. Less than a minute later, Ipswich reclaimed the lead with a penalty of their own. Liam Delap earned the spot-kick after being fouled by Fulham's Timothy Castagne, and he confidently sent the ball past Leno.

As the clock wound down, Fulham’s determination was rewarded once more. In the closing minutes, Jimenez was fouled by Leif Davis, and the Mexican forward completed his brace by converting from the penalty spot for the second time. This equalizer secured Fulham a hard-fought point.
