New Delhi, Aug 10 (NationPress) In a bold move, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has intensified his criticism of the Election Commission of India (ECI) by launching a dedicated website for the “Vote Chori” campaign, urging the public to back his demand for the release of digital voter rolls.
In a video posted on X, Rahul Gandhi stated, “It is essential that we bring to light the Voter Chori issue.”
Speaking in Hindi, he called on citizens to wholeheartedly support the initiative by visiting the campaign website to help combat the ongoing theft of votes in the nation.
He characterized the campaign as a struggle for the protection of democracy, asserting, “Vote Chori undermines the core principle of ‘one man, one vote’. A transparent voter roll is vital for ensuring free and fair elections.”
“Our request to the ECI is straightforward - embrace transparency and make digital voter rolls accessible for public and party audits. Join us in this demand by visiting http://votechori.in/ecdemand or by giving a missed call at 9650003420,” urged Rahul Gandhi.
During an event in Bengaluru on August 8, he called upon the ECI to release the electronic voters’ list for the last decade, including video evidence. He cautioned that non-compliance would indicate an effort to conceal electoral fraud, which he described as a serious crime.
The ECI has rebuffed Rahul Gandhi’s claims, labeling them as “baseless,” and reiterated its commitment to conducting elections in a fair, impartial, and transparent manner.
Gandhi's renewed accusations against the ECI coincided with his intention to lead a march from the Parliament House Complex to the ECI office in Delhi as part of the INDIA bloc on Monday.
Sources indicated that opposition MPs plan to walk the one-kilometer route to the ECI office and have already scheduled a meeting with the Election Commissioners.
On the same day, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will host a dinner for MPs of the INDIA bloc, as the opposition alliance ramps up its efforts to adopt a unified stance against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and allegations of extensive electoral fraud.
