Is Sarkar Chori Happening in Haryana? Could Bihar Be Next?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Nov 5 (NationPress) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reiterated his claims of electoral fraud on Wednesday, asserting that the vote chori is not confined to specific constituencies like Aland and Mahadevapura, but is occurring on a national scale, aimed solely at benefitting the ruling BJP.
He alleged that there exists a centralized and systematic effort to undermine the country’s democratic structure, with both the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Central government allegedly collaborating to pilfer not just individual constituencies but potentially entire states.
In a surprising revelation during a comprehensive press conference, Rahul Gandhi accused the Haryana elections of being compromised due to the poll panel’s incompetence or possibly its complicity, resulting in issues with duplicate and fraudulent voters.
He highlighted the case of Brazilian voters allegedly casting ballots in ten constituencies within Haryana, estimating that around 25 lakh votes were stolen in the state, which has a total electorate of two crore.
Rahul Gandhi pointed out that there are 1.2 lakh entries in Haryana’s electoral rolls where multiple voters share identical photographs, yet the ECI has not utilized its software to rectify this, despite having the authority to do so.
“Why is the ECI not eliminating the duplicates? If they did, it would lead to fair elections, something the ECI appears to resist,” he stated during the press briefing.
He asserted that over 5.21 lakh duplicate entries exist, with several voters, including BJP officials, registered in both Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
The Congress leader further criticized the ECI’s questionable management of duplicate voters on the electoral rolls and challenged the Chief Election Commissioner’s explanation regarding the identification of homeless voters as those with a '0' house number.
Countering CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s rationale for identifying the addresses of the homeless, he accused the poll panel of intentionally neglecting to verify these addresses and referred to ECI regulations, which stipulate that ground verification is necessary if any address has more than 10 registered voters.
He further claimed that 3.5 lakh voters—approximately 2 percent of the electorate—were removed from the rolls between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, many of whom were traditional Congress supporters. He also presented recorded statements from voters in the state supporting his assertions.
Escalating his critique, the Congress MP alleged that the ECI is colluding with the BJP government at the Centre, orchestrating a plan to dismantle the Constitutional framework of the nation.
“A systematic approach to dismantling democracy has been implemented, and we believe that the next victim of this could be Bihar,” he argued, identifying the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) as one of the “new tools” for electoral manipulation in states heading to polls.
Responding to inquiries about Congress' inability to voice these concerns prior to elections, Rahul Gandhi explained that since electoral rolls are released at the last moment, it gives parties a very brief timeframe to identify discrepancies and address them with the ECI.
