Pachmarhi/Bhopal, Nov 9 (NationPress) In a passionate speech delivered in the historic town of Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intensified his claims regarding extensive "vote theft" (vote chori), branding it as a direct threat to democracy and the Constitution framed by Dr BR Ambedkar.
"This is an assault on Bharat Mata," Gandhi asserted.
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha has been in Pachmarhi since Saturday as part of the Congress party's 'Sangthan Srijan Abhiyan'—a campaign aimed at revitalizing the organization.
He alleged that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process is merely a facade for manipulating vote theft.
Addressing reporters, he stated, "Recently, I shared the Haryana model where 25 lakh votes were pilfered—one vote out of every eight. This is their modus operandi."
Gandhi noted that similar discrepancies have been observed in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh. "The central issue is ‘vote chori’. We possess evidence and will divulge it gradually," he mentioned.
These allegations coincide with Congress' efforts to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of upcoming elections.
During a training session for party workers, Gandhi highlighted the importance of unity and vigilance against electoral malpractice.
In a light-hearted moment, Gandhi arrived late to the session, where training head Sachin Rao jokingly imposed a rule that latecomers must face "penal action". When asked for clarification, Rao humorously suggested, "At least 10 push-ups."
Gandhi complied with a smile, performing push-ups in a white T-shirt and trousers, encouraging district presidents to join in, thus transforming the event into a "learn by fun" experience.
"We received an excellent response from district presidents," Gandhi noted afterwards.
Before leaving, he paid homage at Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Gandhi Chowk, symbolically referencing non-violent resistance amidst his allegations of democratic decay.
He warmly engaged with local residents, shaking hands and taking photos. From the chowk, he headed to the helipad to board a helicopter to Bhopal, wrapping up his Pachmarhi campaign.
Gandhi's assertions have ignited political discussions, with the BJP condemning them as unfounded efforts to distract from Congress' electoral setbacks. The Election Commission has yet to provide an official response.
