Is Rahul Gandhi's 'Vote Chori' Just an Excuse for Defeat?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 16 (NationPress) Union Minister Giriraj Singh took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday regarding the alleged issue of vote theft, claiming that Gandhi persistently blames others to cover up his electoral failures.
In response to comments made by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Singh stated, “Rahul Gandhi is known for his theatrics. To disguise his own losses, he fabricates narratives and offers false promises. He constantly seeks to shift the blame onto others for his failures. If he had any courage, why wouldn’t he just own up to it? Omar Abdullah has remarked on this, and so has Supriya Sule.
“When Congress wins in Himachal, Telangana, or Karnataka, they won’t utter the phrase ‘vote chori’. Rahul Gandhi struggles to accept defeat, hence his repetitive use of ‘vote chori, vote chori’,” he continued.
Singh’s remarks were prompted by a statement from Omar Abdullah, who indicated that claims of vote theft are primarily a Congress concern.
Omar Abdullah, leader of the National Conference, emphasized that Congress is free to establish its own political agenda, noting that their rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi was separate from the INDIA alliance. “Every political party has the liberty to determine its political direction,” he asserted.
Singh’s comments reinforce the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s criticism of Congress’ narratives following elections, highlighting what the minister sees as Congress leaders’ repeated attempts to divert attention from their electoral challenges.
Both the National Conference and Congress participated in the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections as members of the INDIA bloc; however, Congress opted not to join Omar Abdullah’s government post-elections.
The minister pointed out Congress’ selective approach by noting that leaders rarely accuse others of vote chori when the party achieves victories, thereby questioning the sincerity of Congress’ post-election claims while reinforcing the BJP’s stance on electoral integrity and accountability.
