Why is Kiren Rijiju Criticizing Rahul Gandhi Over Haryana Elections?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Nov 5 (NationPress) Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday launched a scathing critique of Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi after he alleged “massive vote theft” in the Haryana Assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Rijiju accused Gandhi of disseminating misinformation, disrespecting democratic institutions, and deflecting blame from his party’s shortcomings.
Describing Gandhi’s claims as “baseless and fabricated”, Rijiju remarked that the Congress leader “runs away during elections, returns only after losing, and then blames everyone else.”
“Rahul Gandhi held another press conference to mask his failures. With voting in Bihar just a day away, he chose to talk about Haryana instead of addressing Bihar,” Rijiju pointed out. “This clearly indicates that Congress lacks issues in Bihar, prompting them to concoct the Haryana narrative to distract attention.”
Rijiju dismissed Gandhi’s assertion that 25 lakh fake votes were cast in Haryana as “laughable and irresponsible”, urging him to provide proof to the Election Commission or the courts instead of “maligning institutions.”
“If irregularities exist, file a petition with the ECI and approach the courts. But Rahul Gandhi never does that. He merely holds press conferences to spread unsubstantiated narratives,” he stated.
The Union Minister also recalled the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, when exit polls predicted a BJP win, yet the party accepted defeat gracefully.
“In 2004, exit polls favored us, but the results differed. We congratulated the UPA and did not disparage the Election Commission. In a democracy, one must acknowledge both victory and defeat,” Rijiju emphasized.
Taking a personal jab, Rijiju accused Gandhi of frequently traveling abroad during critical political periods.
“During elections, he travels abroad; during Parliament sessions, he secretly visits places like Cambodia and Thailand, and now, Colombia during the Bihar elections. Then he returns to discuss atom bombs and fabricated issues,” Rijiju remarked, referring to Gandhi’s recent comments.
Labeling Gandhi’s behavior as “immature and dangerous,” the Union Minister asserted that the youth of India stand firmly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Rahul Gandhi is attempting to incite Gen Z, but the youth are astute. They recognize our hard work and India’s progress. Congress’s alliances with anti-India forces will not prevail,” he declared.
Rijiju added that even Congress leaders privately concede that the party “cannot win as long as Rahul Gandhi is at the helm.”
