New Delhi, Oct 18 (NationPress) The National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) 'Rajmargyatra' app allows users to give the FASTag annual pass as a gift. The government emphasized this as an ideal gift for travelers during the Diwali and festive season.

To activate a pass, users need to click on the “Add Pass” option in the app and provide the recipient's vehicle number along with their contact details. Following a simple OTP verification, the annual pass will be activated on the vehicle's FASTag, facilitating effortless travel without frequent recharges, according to an official announcement.

The FASTag annual pass offers a smooth and cost-effective travel solution for users on the National Highways, applicable at approximately 1,150 toll plazas throughout India.

The annual pass is priced at Rs 3,000 and is valid for one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings. It is available for all non-commercial vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag. After making a one-time payment via the 'Rajmargyatra' App, the pass gets activated within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle.

Once the limit is reached, the FASTag automatically transitions to standard pay-per-trip mode. For point-based toll plazas, a one-way crossing counts as a trip, while a return journey counts as two. In closed or ticketed systems, a complete entry-to-exit journey counts as one trip.

Some FASTags, particularly those issued for new vehicles, may only be registered using the vehicle's chassis number. The Annual Pass cannot be activated on such FASTags, which should be updated to reflect the complete vehicle registration number.

Payments for the pass can be made via UPI, debit or credit card, or net banking, and the FASTag wallet balances cannot be utilized for this purchase.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways reported that the FASTag annual pass has attracted over 25 lakh users and processed around 5.67 crore transactions within the first two months of its launch.
