New Delhi, Aug 16 (NationPress) The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has effectively rolled out the ‘FASTag Annual Pass’ feature at approximately 1,150 toll plazas situated on National Highways and Expressways throughout the nation.
The annual pass has garnered an impressive response from users of the National Highways, as reported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
By 7 p.m. on the inaugural day of its implementation on August 15, nearly 1.4 lakh users had acquired and activated the annual pass, culminating in about 1.39 lakh transactions at toll plazas.
Currently, around 20,000–25,000 concurrent users are utilizing the Rajmargyatra App at any given moment, with annual pass holders receiving SMS notifications confirming zero toll fee deductions, as per NHAI.
“NHAI officials and Nodal officers have been appointed at each toll plaza to guarantee a seamless travel experience for pass holders. NHAI is also responding to inquiries from pass users through various channels. Furthermore, the 1033 National Highway Helpline has been bolstered with the addition of over 100 executives to address grievances,” stated the highways authority.
Offering a smooth and cost-effective travel solution for National Highway users, the FASTag Annual Pass removes the need for frequent FASTag recharges, requiring a one-time fee of Rs 3,000 for a validity period of one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings.
This annual pass is applicable for all non-commercial vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag and is activated within two hours of the one-time fee payment made via the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website.
With a penetration rate nearing 98 percent and over 8 crore users, FASTag has transformed the Electronic Toll Collection system across India.
The launch of the Annual Pass facility is expected to significantly enhance the experience for FASTag users and render journeys on National Highways and Expressways more economical and efficient, as noted by the ministry.
