Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 6 (NationPress) The government announced on Friday that the FASTag Annual Pass has surpassed 50 lakh users, registering over 26.55 crore transactions in just six months since its introduction.
Approximately 28 percent of all vehicle transactions on the National Highway (NH) network are now facilitated by the FASTag Annual Pass, according to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, underscoring the growing adoption of this system among NH users.
Regionally, Chandigarh stands out with the highest usage, contributing 14 percent of nationwide Annual Pass transactions, followed by Tamil Nadu at 12.3 percent and Delhi at 11.5 percent.
Additionally, the Bijwasan Fee Plaza in Delhi NCR has emerged as a prominent location, with approximately 57 percent of vehicle crossings utilizing the Annual Pass, trailed by Mundaka Fee Plaza in Delhi NCR and Jhinjholi Fee Plaza in Sonipat, both recording around 53 percent of non-commercial vehicle crossings through this pass.
The Annual Pass is applicable at around 1,150 fee plazas across National Highways and National Expressways, allowing users to avoid frequent FASTag recharges by paying a single fee of Rs 3,000 for one year or 200 toll plaza crossings.
This pass is valid for all non-commercial vehicles equipped with a legitimate FASTag.
Activation of the annual pass occurs within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle upon payment via the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website.
“The rising adoption of the FASTag Annual Pass highlights its role in enabling smooth and cost-effective travel on National Highways nationwide,” stated the ministry.
Importantly, this annual pass transforms unpredictable monthly toll expenses into a consistent, hassle-free cost, providing daily commuters with predictability, savings, and enhanced travel experiences throughout the year, alleviating concerns about frequent FASTag top-ups.
