New Delhi, April 5 (NationPress) A young girl, who departed from her home without notifying her family, was discovered in a distressed state at Anand Vihar Metro Station. Thanks to the prompt actions of the Delhi Police, she was safely reunited with her family, officials announced on Sunday.
The situation came to light on Saturday when Head Constable Adarsh and Woman Constable Sunita were conducting a routine patrol. During their rounds at the metro station, they spotted a young girl alone, visibly upset and in tears.
Officials stated that the police personnel quickly approached her to ensure her safety.
"The police officials acted swiftly, approaching the girl and ensuring her safety. With the utmost sensitivity, Woman Constable Sunita supervised the counselling process, speaking to the girl in a calm and supportive manner. Though she was initially reluctant, she gradually opened up and began to share her story," said an official statement.
Through persistent counselling and efforts to establish trust, the girl eventually disclosed her identity.
During the conversation, she mentioned that she had been experiencing mental stress over the last two to three days, primarily due to academic pressure from her family. She admitted to leaving her house around 4 a.m. without informing anyone.
After earning her trust, the police collected her father's contact information and immediately contacted him. Her father confirmed that she had left home without notice and that the family had been searching for her.
He was informed about her safety at the metro station and mentioned that he was en route to Delhi, as well as that his younger brother had been sent ahead to assist. Shortly thereafter, the girl's uncle arrived at the police station with other relatives and identified her as his niece.
"When her father arrived, he and the other family members were thoroughly updated in the presence of the girl. The family was advised to have her medically examined; however, they declined, stating she was in normal condition," officials reported.
After all required formalities were completed and details verified, the girl was safely handed over to her father in the presence of her relatives.
"This incident underscores the quick response, vigilance, and compassionate handling of sensitive situations by the Metro Unit Police. Their timely intervention, patient counselling, and effective communication with the family facilitated the girl's safe reunion without any adverse events," officials remarked.
"Such proactive policing showcases the commitment of the Delhi Police to public safety, particularly in safeguarding vulnerable individuals within metro environments," they added.
