Agartala/New Delhi, July 13 (NationPress) The Tripura Police have initiated a thorough search for a 19-year-old college student who has been missing since July 7 in New Delhi. A police spokesperson reported on Sunday that they are collaborating with the Delhi Police in efforts to locate the missing student, who is enrolled at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, part of Delhi University.

According to the official, Tripura's Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag, has personally reached out to the Special Commissioner of Delhi Police to expedite the rescue efforts. The DGP is closely overseeing the investigation.

On Saturday night, Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura ordered police to take immediate action regarding the case. The Chief Minister's Office stated on social media: “We have received reports about Miss Sneha Debnath, a resident of Sabroom, who is believed to be missing in New Delhi. We have promptly directed the police to take necessary actions.”

As per local media reports, Sneha disappeared from the Wazirabad area in north Delhi on July 7. A relative filed a complaint at the Mehrauli police station in Delhi on July 9.

Sources from the family indicated that Sneha had left her home in the Saket area on July 7 to meet a friend arriving at the Sarai Rohilla Railway Station. A cab driver dropped her off near Delhi's Signature Bridge, after which her phone was turned off.

Sneha, the daughter of a military officer, is studying mathematics at Delhi University. Since her disappearance, her father, Pritthis Debanth, has persistently requested assistance from the Delhi Police and sought help from Chief Minister Saha, who also oversees Home Affairs.

Sneha's family, which has been residing in Delhi for many years, is deeply worried. She left home without any personal items and has not accessed her bank account or withdrawn money in months.

Point of View

I emphasize the importance of thorough investigations in missing person cases. The collaboration between Tripura and Delhi police exemplifies a proactive approach. We must hold law enforcement accountable while also advocating for the families affected. Our nation must prioritize the safety of its citizens, particularly vulnerable individuals.
