New Delhi/Agartala, March 3 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister, Manik Saha, has extended his unwavering support to the family of a 19-year-old girl from the state, who was reportedly subjected to a horrific assault in Gurugram, according to officials.

An official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Agartala revealed that CM Saha, while in New Delhi, met with the victim’s family to convey his solidarity.

The girl was allegedly attacked by her live-in partner, sparking widespread outrage throughout Tripura and other northeastern regions.

In a post on Facebook, the Chief Minister stated: “In this deeply distressing moment, I had the opportunity to meet the parents of the victim from Gurugram today.”

He expressed heartfelt empathy, assuring them of the Tripura government's dedicated support and instructed the Special Chief Resident Commissioner of Tripura Bhawan in Delhi to assist the family. The government has committed to covering all medical expenses for the victim. “Our thoughts are with you,” he remarked.

Earlier, CM Saha noted that his counterpart in Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, has promised to ensure justice in the case concerning the assault on the Tripura student in Gurugram.

At CM Saha’s request, Tripura Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy visited the hospital to evaluate the situation and provide support to the victim.

Furthermore, CM Saha mentioned that he had previously contacted the Union Health Minister's office to guarantee the highest quality medical care for the young woman.

The victim, a biotechnology student in Gurugram, reportedly endured severe physical abuse at the hands of her live-in partner, identified as Shivam (19). The incident came to light in the third week of last month when the victim urgently called her mother, claiming her partner had confined her and assaulted her continuously for three days.

According to her mother, the accused had befriended the girl online a few months prior, promising to marry her.

She further alleged that he kept her daughter captive for three days and subjected her to unimaginable torture, including forcing her to drink urine.

The accused, Shivam, a resident of Narela in Delhi, was arrested on February 19 following an FIR filed at the Badshahpur police station in Gurugram.

The victim's mother recounted her daughter's harrowing experience, stating that during the distress call, her daughter said: “I don’t have much time, I will be killed… Shivam has been beating and burning me for the last three days. Today, he will kill me.”

She further alleged that Shivam burned her daughter's private areas with sanitiser and stabbed her multiple times.

Upon receiving the alarming call, she rushed to the Gurugram Police, who rescued her daughter and took her to the hospital.

“My daughter is an exceptional student who moved to Gurugram solely for her education. Shivam manipulated her through online chats. Her health deteriorated drastically due to the brutal torture,” the mother stated, demanding severe punishment for the perpetrator.

Previously, police indicated that the accused had allegedly engaged in physical relations with the girl under the guise of marriage.

The Gurugram Police confirmed they are closely scrutinizing the case. Rape and assault charges have been added to the FIR, and the accused is currently in judicial custody.

Investigations are ongoing.

The victim was initially admitted to AIIMS Delhi and is now receiving care at Safdarjung Hospital in the national capital, as per police reports.
