Agartala, Sep 25 (NationPress) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized that the BJP government will not accept any form of aggression against its party functionaries. He insisted that those responsible for the reprehensible attack must face justice.
This statement followed an incident where four individuals, including BJP Janajati Morcha Vice-President Mangal Debbarma, sustained injuries after being assaulted by supporters of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) at Hejamara in West Tripura district.
It’s noteworthy that TMP is a junior ally in the BJP-led coalition government.
Three of the injured were transported to GBP Government Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment, with one of the victims being a journalist from the tribal community.
During a visit to the injured BJP workers at the medical facility, CM Saha reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards political violence in the state.
“On September 21, prior to the commencement of the Seva Pakhwada program in Hejamara, a gang of thugs affiliated with the Tipra Motha Party viciously attacked our workers, including Vice President Mangal Debbarma,” stated CM Saha.
He expressed his commitment to ensuring the injured receive optimal care, having personally consulted with the medical staff.
“Our administration will not condone this assault. Those responsible for this detestable act must be brought to justice,” asserted Saha, who also oversees the home portfolio.
He acknowledged that while the TMP is part of the ruling coalition, the BJP will respond to any grievances raised.
“The law will take its course. We have the police and judiciary to handle these matters. There is no need for unnecessary violence. The BJP, along with the government, stands for peace and will not tolerate such actions. Just yesterday, a BJP Mandal office was vandalized. This is part of a larger conspiracy involving many individuals, and we are committed to ensuring the law prevails,” he added.
Previously, on August 31, seven BJP Janjati Morcha members were injured during another attack by TMP supporters in Khowai district while they gathered to listen to Prime Minister Modi's monthly radio program 'Mann Ki Baat'. Similar assaults have occurred at Takarjala in Sepahijala District and other locations, resulting in additional injuries to BJP members.
