Koderma (Jharkhand), Feb 13 (NationPress) A young girl was brutally murdered by her father and two brothers in Koderma district of Jharkhand due to her romantic relationship with a village boy, which the family opposed.
The perpetrators subsequently buried her remains in the sandy banks of a river to hide their heinous act, according to police reports released on Thursday.
The tragic event took place on February 2 in Bhagwatidih village under the jurisdiction of Markachcho police station.
The shocking crime was uncovered more than ten days later when local shepherds tending to their livestock near the Panchkhero River spotted an unusual sight— a decomposed hand sticking out from the sand, partially devoured by animals. Alarmed by this discovery, they promptly alerted law enforcement.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officials exhumed the headless body and initiated an investigation. Later that evening, the victim was identified as Nibha Pandey, daughter of Madan Pandey, a resident of the same locality.
During questioning, family members disclosed the disturbing details surrounding the incident. According to authorities, Nibha had fallen in love with a local young man, a relationship that her family strongly disapproved of.
Furious over her rebellion, her father Madan Pandey and her brothers Nitesh Pandey and Jyotish Pandey allegedly attacked her with an axe, killing her instantly.
Following the murder, the assailants initially concealed her body in a water tank at their residence to evade detection. However, as the foul odor of decomposition spread, they opted for a different method of disposal.
On February 5, they stuffed her remains into a sack, transported it via bicycle to the Panchkhero River, and buried it beneath the sand.
The police apprehended the three suspects and recovered both the murder weapon and the bicycle used to move the body. All three have confessed to their involvement in this crime, according to police officials.
Superintendent of Police Anudeep Singh confirmed the arrests and stated that further legal proceedings are in motion.
