Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 16 (NationPress) On Monday, the government announced that GoIStats, a mobile application designed to provide users with access to official data like GDP, inflation, and employment statistics, has achieved over 300,000 hits as of February 2026, as reported in Parliament.
According to Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Rao Inderjit Singh, the app has seen 17,475 downloads to date, with 2,576 active users reported in February 2026.
The onboarding of datasets, visualizations, and infographics for the application is an ongoing effort. Currently, GoIStats offers access to data from nine significant statistical products, including National Accounts Statistics, Consumer Price Index, Wholesale Price Index, Household Consumption Expenditure Survey, Periodic Labour Force Survey, Index of Industrial Production, Annual Survey of Industries, Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises, and the Economic Census.
These datasets encompass 12 essential socio-economic indicators available on the mobile platform.
The GoIStats app also features 178 infographics designed to facilitate easier access and understanding of official statistics for users.
User feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with the app earning a rating of 4.9 out of 5 on the Google Play Store and 4.8 out of 5 on the iOS App Store.
However, the government stated that there are currently no plans to integrate the GoIStats application with other national data platforms.
Launched in June of the previous year, the app is part of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation’s (MoSPI) initiative to digitally disseminate key statistical indicators for stakeholders.
Additionally, the app includes a built-in feedback feature where user suggestions are analyzed to enhance functionality and user experience.
The government has also indicated that MoSPI is implementing various measures to bolster accountability in data collection and dissemination, including the publication of an Advance Release Calendar (ARC) for its statistical products on the Ministry’s official website.
