Bhopal/Gwalior, March 26 (NationPress) In Gwalior, the Behat Police have apprehended three individuals for their alleged involvement in a shooting at a moving vehicle, resulting in critical injuries to a 60-year-old woman.
The authorities reported that they managed to solve the case within 48 hours following the incident.
Superintendent of Police Gwalior, Dharmveer Singh, explained that the suspects pursued a “Scorpio car” in a “Creta” vehicle and discharged firearms after a dispute regarding road access. The police have confiscated a .315 bore gun, along with both live and spent cartridges, as well as the Creta used in the crime.
The incident unfolded when Bhim Gautam Sharma, who hails from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, was returning home with his mother, Vimla Devi Sharma, after attending a Bhagwat Katha in the village of Gijorra Dudhkhoh in Gwalior.
During their return journey, they made stops at the Ratangarh Mata Temple and Dandroua Dham Temple.
While approaching Rangawan village, situated in the Behat police station area, they encountered a white car occupied by three to four youths blocking the narrow roadway. Bhim honked his horn to signal for passage.
When no reply was forthcoming, he activated the vehicle's hooter, which seemingly provoked the youths, according to police reports.
After a brief delay, the youths permitted the Scorpio to pass. However, shortly after, they began to pursue the victims’ vehicle and, a short distance later, opened fire.
One bullet penetrated the car and struck Vimla Devi Sharma, seated next to the driver, in the neck, causing critical injuries.
The assailants fled towards Bhind following the shooting. The injured woman was promptly transported to a private hospital, where her condition remains critical.
