This alarming event unfolded in the Bag Umrao Dulha neighborhood, under the jurisdiction of the Aishbagh Police Station, during the afternoon hours.
As per the police report, a man was standing on the roadside while the woman sat on his scooter. Just then, another individual on a motorcycle attempted to make a turn, which resulted in his vehicle brushing against their scooter, igniting a dispute.
What started as a minor quarrel swiftly escalated when the suspect, identified as Dilawar Khan, dismounted his motorcycle and brandished a pistol.
Noticing the suspect's action, the woman bravely confronted him, pushing him against a wall and disrupting his aim to fire the weapon. Authorities indicated that her timely intervention was crucial in averting a direct attack.
Although the suspect initially retreated, he returned moments later and discharged a shot into the air, seemingly to instigate panic. He then fled the scene.
The entire incident was recorded by CCTV cameras in the vicinity, aiding police in identifying the suspect, who has a history of multiple criminal offenses across various police stations.
Aishbagh Police Station's officer in charge, Sandeep Panwar, stated that teams have been dispatched to apprehend the suspect.
"We have identified him through CCTV footage. Raids are being conducted at likely locations, and we are making every effort to arrest him soon," he noted.
Despite the gravity of the situation, no official complaint has been lodged so far. Police officials are currently working to locate the victims seen in the footage.
"We are seeking the complainant, and legal proceedings will advance based on the available evidence," they added.
