Bulandshahr double murder: Financial dispute kills 2, injures 2 in UP
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Two people were killed and two others critically injured on Wednesday, 15 July after a financial dispute between rival groups turned violently fatal in Nizampur village under Sikandrabad Police Station limits in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, according to officials. The confrontation — which began over a monetary transaction — escalated into gunfire and a vehicle ramming attack.
How the Violence Unfolded
The dispute reportedly originated when Uttam Sharma, a resident of Sikandrabad, got into an argument with a person identified as Prashant over a financial transaction. The verbal disagreement quickly drew in members from both groups based in Nizampur village, spiralling into a physical confrontation.
Firearms were allegedly discharged during the clash. Ajab Singh, 45, was shot by members of one group and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. In what police described as a retaliatory act, members of the rival group allegedly rammed a car into Sonu alias Sunil, 40, killing him on the spot.
Two Others Critically Injured
Two additional individuals — identified as Arvind and Ratan — sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire. Both are currently receiving medical treatment, according to officials. Their condition has been described as critical.
What the Police Said
Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Kumar Singh confirmed that the violence originated from a money dispute. 'An argument turned into a physical fight, and soon shots were fired. A person identified as Ajab Singh died in the firing, while Arvind and Ratan were injured and are undergoing treatment,' he said.
On the second fatality, SSP Singh said that Sonu was allegedly run over by a vehicle during the violence and died on the spot. 'Everyone involved in the incident is being identified, and strict legal action will be taken,' he added.
Heavy Police Deployment, Investigation Underway
Following the incident, personnel from three police stations were deployed to Nizampur village, alongside senior officers including the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Meerut Range, the SSP, the SP City, and the Circle Officer. The high-level response reflects the gravity of the violence and the need to prevent further escalation in the area.
This is not an isolated pattern — financial disputes escalating into group violence have been reported across western Uttar Pradesh in recent years, often involving rival factions from the same locality. Investigators are working to identify all persons involved, and further details are expected as the probe progresses.
