Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Jan 30 (NationPress) In a tragic incident in Rasalpur village, located in the Fatuha police jurisdiction of Patna district, two individuals were fatally shot and another left with severe injuries due to a dispute over land on Friday, escalating tensions within the community.
The victims have been identified as Rajwanti Devi, aged 50, and Devsagar Singh, aged 55.
Both suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital, where they ultimately succumbed to their injuries and significant blood loss.
According to Jitendra Kumar, the son of Rajwanti Devi, the violence erupted over a seemingly trivial land issue concerning just two inches of land.
This ongoing disagreement has reportedly existed for several years between two siblings, Shravan Prasad and Rajkumar Yadav.
“On that fateful morning, my father, Shravan Prasad, and others were engaged in conversation with my uncle Rajkumar Yadav when suddenly his son, Shivam Kumar Yadav, appeared and opened fire on us. My mother, Rajwanti Devi, my brother Rajan Prasad, and a local villager, Devsagar Singh, were all injured. Sadly, my mother and Devsagar Singh did not survive their injuries at the hospital. This issue was never significant - merely about two inches,” he recounted.
Rajan Prasad is currently receiving treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
The alleged shooter fled the scene immediately after the incident.
The village is now engulfed in fear and unrest, with residents urging for strict measures against the perpetrator and appropriate compensation for the families of the victims.
To maintain order, police presence has been increased in the area.
Upon being informed, Rural SP Kundan Kumar and his team swiftly arrived at the scene and commenced an investigation.
Authorities are conducting raids to apprehend the accused.
“We have retrieved two pistols, a sword, and numerous spent cartridges from the crime scene. We are thoroughly investigating all aspects of this case, and stringent action will be taken against those accountable,” stated Rural SP Kundan Kumar.
Currently, police officials report that the situation is under control, although a tense atmosphere lingers in the village.
