Haryana Chief Minister Praises Pro-Farmer Initiatives from 2025's Inaugural Union Cabinet

Chandigarh, Jan 1 (NationPress) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed his support on Wednesday for the pro-farmer initiatives introduced in the first Union Cabinet meeting of 2025, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He conveyed his appreciation to the Prime Minister, noting that the carefully considered nature of these initiatives will significantly impact the livelihoods of millions of farmers in Haryana.

Identifying the Union Cabinet's actions as a New Year present for farmers from Prime Minister Modi, the Chief Minister highlighted that these measures will guarantee the provision of DAP to farmers at affordable and subsidized rates.

Moreover, funding has been allocated to support the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and enhance agricultural technology, which will yield a direct positive effect on farmers’ well-being.

It should be noted that during the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the proposal from the Department of Fertilizers to raise the one-time special package on DAP beyond the NBS subsidy by Rs 3,500 per metric ton was sanctioned.

This initiative, effective from January 1, 2025 until further notice, aims to ensure the sustained availability of DAP for farmers at reasonable prices.

This decision guarantees that farmers will be able to obtain DAP at a subsidized, fair, and accessible price.

Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme have been approved to extend through 2025-26, with a total financial provision of Rs 69,515.71 crore from 2021-22 to 2025-26.

This measure will provide farmers nationwide with protection against crop risks resulting from unforeseen natural disasters until 2025-26. Alongside these initiatives, several other resolutions aimed at enhancing farmers' welfare were also adopted by the Union Cabinet.
