He stated that Census 2027 is crucial for achieving the goal of a ‘Viksit Haryana, Viksit Bharat’. It goes beyond mere data collection; it serves as a cornerstone for inclusive and equitable state development. The first phase of the census in Haryana is set to occur from May 1 to 30, focusing on house listing and the housing census.
Starting April 16 and continuing until April 30, the self-enumeration facility is accessible to the public, marking a significant advancement towards Digital India.
The Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of accurate and reliable census data for the formulation of effective policies and schemes that cater to all segments of society.
Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s phrase, ‘Our Census, Our Development’, he reinforced that this vision can only be realized with the active involvement of every citizen.
India has a longstanding tradition of census operations, with the first systematic census conducted in 1872. This upcoming census will be the eighth since Independence and the sixth for Haryana. The Chief Minister noted that census data is vital for development planning, influencing the establishment of schools, hospitals, road infrastructure, and welfare schemes for the underprivileged.
He urged citizens to provide precise and comprehensive information regarding their families to ensure the effectiveness and fairness of policies.
According to the Director (Census), Lalit Jain, a total of 51,000 enumeration blocks in Haryana have been digitized, with complete reference maps accessible on the portal.
This extensive database is expected to significantly aid the state’s development. Jain added that under the digital census initiative, citizens can effortlessly complete self-enumeration from any location using the mobile application or online portal, thus saving valuable time.
