Chandigarh, Sep 23 (NationPress) BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, on Tuesday, praised the initiatives of the Narendra Modi government to approve the long-awaited construction of the Rajpura-Mohali railway line and the commencement of the Ferozepur-Delhi Vande Bharat train as 'historic', heralding a new phase of growth and connectivity in Punjab.
He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again shown his dedication to equitable regional development by sanctioning this project, which will directly link the Malwa region with the Chandigarh Tricity (Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula) and the national capital (New Delhi).
The new 24-km railway line, estimated to cost over Rs 200 crore, will create new avenues for trade, industry, and employment in the area.
Rajpura, recognized as an industrial center, will now have a direct connection to the Tricity, significantly enhancing business opportunities and passenger convenience.
He further noted that this project, delayed for years, was mired in political neglect, but under the decisive leadership of PM Modi, it has been revitalized and included in the Northern Railway's new agenda.
Chugh emphasized that this illustrates how the BJP government is actualizing commitments overlooked by previous state administrations.
The BJP leader expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, stating this project is not merely about railway infrastructure but about constructing a brighter future for Punjab's youth, farmers, and entrepreneurs.
He urged the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government to fully cooperate in land acquisition and clearances, enabling the people of Punjab to benefit from this initiative without further delays.
Additionally, Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney expressed satisfaction at the approval of the Rajpura-Mohali rail link project, recalling that he has been consistently advocating for this since his entry into Parliament in 2022.
The Central government has sanctioned the long-awaited project, marking a significant milestone for Punjab's connectivity.
Sahney stated that, “from my very first session in the Rajya Sabha, I emphasized the urgent necessity for this railway link, which is crucial for Punjab's trade, industry, students, and daily commuters.”
