During the proceedings in the POCSO Court in Patna, arguments were presented, yet the court did not offer any reprieve to the accused.
The case is set for another hearing on Friday.
Post-hearing, the mother of the victim addressed the media outside the courtroom, accusing both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Bihar Police of attempting to obscure the details of the case.
She claimed that these agencies are working to shield Manish Ranjan and another suspect, Neelam Agarwal.
With deep emotion, she reaffirmed her family's commitment to seeking justice.
“We are portrayed as liars, but we will persist in our fight for justice as long as we are alive,” she stated.
The bereaved mother expressed that her daughter was sent to the hostel with utmost faith to prepare for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
She further alleged that the hostel had visitors of influence and claimed that her daughter was a victim of rape and murder due to their family's financial status.
“Though my daughter is lost, many girls like her remain. We fight for their safety too,” she added.
The victim's mother also criticized the state government's commitment to women's safety, referring to the campaign “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.”
She questioned the government's presence when underprivileged girls pursuing education face such harrowing incidents and condemned the administration led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The case continues to attract significant attention in Bihar as the investigation unfolds, with the court set to revisit the bail application shortly.
The NEET aspirant was discovered unconscious under suspicious circumstances in a room at Shambhu Girls Hostel located in Chitragupt Nagar, Patna, on January 6 and sadly succumbed to her injuries on January 11 this year.
