What Caused the NEET Aspirant's Death at a Girls’ Hostel in Bihar?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 2 (NationPress) Tensions escalated outside the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Monday as Opposition parties mounted a fierce attack on the ruling government following the suspicious passing of a NEET aspirant at Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Patna.
Members of the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and CPI(ML) accused the state administration of concealment, fact suppression, and providing protection to the accused.
The Opposition vowed to address this matter vigorously both inside and outside the Assembly during the entire Budget Session.
Before the House convened, Opposition lawmakers protested within the Assembly grounds.
Congress MLA Mohammad Qamrul Hoda was observed wielding placards and chanting slogans against the Nitish Kumar administration.
In a statement to the media, Hoda claimed, “The perpetrators are still at large. Transferring the case to the CBI indicates that the powerful are being sheltered. This is not justice; it is a conspiracy.”
CPI(ML) MLA Sandeep Saurabh also arrived carrying posters advocating for the victim and accused the government of intimidating the victim’s family.
“We have no faith in the CBI investigation. The inquiry should be overseen by a Supreme Court judge,” Saurabh stated.
In response to the accusations from the Opposition, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha dismissed the claims as unfounded.
“The case has been assigned to the CBI, and the accused will not evade justice. Doubts emerged regarding the police investigation, which prompted the government to call for a CBI probe,” he remarked.
Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi also countered the Opposition, asserting, “The Opposition lacks genuine issues, hence they are creating disturbances. Everything will come to light during the CBI investigation.”
During Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s address in the Assembly, Opposition members raised slogans demanding, “When will the NEET student receive justice?”
After a brief disruption, the Governor continued his address.
When the Governor mentioned development for both Hindus and Muslims, AIMIM MLA Akhtarul Iman protested, and the Governor signaled for him to take his seat.
The death of the NEET aspirant has now become a highly contentious political issue in Bihar, igniting fierce discord between the ruling coalition and the Opposition, with an array of claims, accusations, and counterclaims made in the name of justice.
