What Happened to the Bihar NEET Aspirant? Family Receives Another Threatening Letter
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has escalated its investigation into the dubious death of a NEET student from Jehanabad, as the victim's family confronts new death threats, instilling a sense of panic.
On Tuesday, the CBI team conducted an inspection at the Shambhu Girls Hostel in Patna before proceeding to the student's ancestral residence in Jehanabad.
During the inquiry, the deceased student’s brother was taken to Patna for questioning.
Moreover, the emergence of another threatening note found near the family’s residence in Jehanabad has left them in fear.
The handwritten note ominously states: “If you don’t believe it…the daughter is gone, now the son will also die in two days.”
Family members indicated that this is the second such threat, following a similar note which was discarded outside their home on February 14.
According to them, the note was again thrown from outside the house, allegedly by someone from the village, despite existing security measures.
The ongoing threats have raised significant concerns regarding the family's safety.
Local police from Shakurabad Police Station have been deployed at their residence.
Shakurabad Station House Officer Rahul Kumar confirmed that the family has filed a complaint and stated that police are investigating the identity of the individuals behind these threats.
Despite the police presence, the victim’s father expressed that a climate of fear looms over their household.
“We feel utterly unsafe. Twice, pamphlets threatening our son with death have been thrown. We can only trust in God,” he lamented, accusing the administration of negligence and demanding enhanced security and prompt action.
The case itself is embroiled in controversy. Initially, police labeled the incident a suicide, but subsequent post-mortem and FSL reports revealed signs of sexual assault, igniting widespread outrage.
The victim’s family has claimed that the student was raped and murdered, accusing the police of attempting to cover up the case.
In response to growing pressure, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established, which imposed stricter charges under child protection laws after determining that the student was a minor.
The SIT reportedly detected sperm traces in the student’s undergarments, leading to DNA samples being collected from various individuals, including relatives, further raising the family's concerns.
While a hostel owner was arrested, the operator of the girls’ hostel was later released without being questioned, which has fueled further controversy.
Ultimately, the state government transferred the entire investigation to the CBI.
Sources indicate that the CBI is examining the case from every conceivable perspective, including the student’s daily routine, personal relationships, recent activities, and any prior threats, in order to uncover the truth surrounding her death.
The recurring threats amid an ongoing CBI investigation have turned this case into a significant topic of discussion in the region, with the victim’s family demanding immediate action, accountability, and round-the-clock security.
