The alleged assailant attacked his wife outside a hospital following her discharge. The horrific assault was recorded on CCTV.

After a dispute between the couple, he picked up a sizable stone and struck her forcefully on her head multiple times. Assuming she was lifeless, he fled the scene.

Onlookers saw the injured woman on the ground and alerted the authorities. She was transported to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and fell into a coma due to serious head trauma.

Police reports indicate that Mohammed Basrat had a love marriage with Shabana Parveen from Kolkata in October 2024. The couple resided in Adityanagar in Hafeezpet. Basrat, who works as an interior designer, had moved to Hyderabad from Vikarabad for work opportunities and met Shabana in Adityanagar.

Shabana was admitted to a private hospital on March 29 due to vomiting. At the time, she was two months pregnant. After her health improved, she was released from the hospital on the night of April 1.

Once outside, a dispute erupted between them. Basrat was observed kicking Shabana, and when she fell to the ground, he picked up a large boulder and struck her numerous times.

Believing her to be dead, Basrat escaped on his motorcycle. After being alerted by passersby, police took her to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The Gachibowli Police have opened a case and commenced an investigation. Basrat has been apprehended and presented in court, where he was remanded to judicial custody.
