Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, April 5 (NationPress) A tragic incident occurred when a woman lost her life and her husband was seriously injured after a DCM vehicle collided with the scooty they were riding, dragging it for nearly a kilometre in Hyderabad.
The event took place late Saturday night in Madhapur, a bustling IT hub. The victim has been identified as Haniya Ayesha (22), while her husband Abdul Basit (26) is currently hospitalized with severe injuries.
Police reports indicate that the couple's scooty was struck by the vehicle at Mindspace. During the impact, Abdul Basit fell to the roadside, whereas Haniya, along with the scooty, was pulled along by the vehicle for a distance of approximately one kilometre.
Witnesses who observed the DCM vehicle dragging the woman quickly intervened, pursuing and stopping the vehicle. Although the driver managed to flee the scene, the locals apprehended the cleaner, who was beaten before being handed over to law enforcement.
Both individuals were transported to AIG Hospital, where medical staff pronounced Ayesha dead upon arrival. Basit is undergoing treatment for his serious injuries.
The couple, originally from Kerala, were employed at a Malabar Gold store and were returning home to Maheshwaram after enjoying a movie in Kukatpally.
Authorities have sent Ayesha's body for a post-mortem examination, and a police officer confirmed that the victim's family has been notified about this unfortunate accident.
The Madhapur police have filed a case and commenced an investigation into the incident, with ongoing efforts to locate the DCM driver, whose vehicle is registered in Karnataka.
In a separate incident, a container truck carrying autorickshaws caught fire in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. This occurred near the Bengaluru-Chennai National Highway in Bangarupalem mandal, where the container—transporting eight autos from Hosur to Jharkhand—was completely engulfed in flames before firefighters could arrive.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined, prompting police to register a case and initiate an investigation.
