Hyderabad, Oct 10 (NationPress) - In a significant operation, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) successfully removed encroachments from five acres of government land, reclaiming a property valued at Rs 750 crore.
HYDRAA officials cleared the encroachments on the prime land located in Banjara Hills, a prestigious area in the city, and took possession of the property.
The disputed land on Banjara Hills Road No. 10 in Shaikpet Mandal was reportedly encroached upon by an individual named Parthasarathi, who had employed bouncers and guard dogs to 'secure' the area.
As per HYDRAA officials, the government had previously allocated 1.20 acres of the total 5 acres to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
Parthasarathi, asserting ownership over the entire 5 acres including the allocated 1.20 acres, sought legal recourse. He fenced the land and stationed bouncers with guard dogs for protection.
During the ongoing court case, Parthasarathi managed to seize control of all 5 acres and constructed makeshift sheds.
Local residents reported to HYDRAA that Parthasarathi established a base on government land, consuming alcohol and intimidating them. He also obstructed the Water Board's efforts to construct a water reservoir, which was essential for providing drinking water to nearby residential areas. Complaints were lodged by both the Water Board and Revenue officials with HYDRAA.
According to HYDRAA, Parthasarathi attempted to lay claim to government land using a fraudulent survey number (403/52). As a result, Revenue and Water Board officials filed four criminal cases against him at the Banjara Hills Police Station.
It was confirmed that while government land exists under the survey number 403, Parthasarathi encroached using sub-number 403/52. HYDRAA verified that Parthasarathi claimed the 5 acres using an unregistered sale deed.
Acting on a letter from Shaikpet Revenue officials, encroachments were cleared under heavy security. HYDRAA dismantled the fencing erected by Parthasarathi and the sheds present on the property. Furthermore, HYDRAA reinstated fencing around the 5 acres and placed signs identifying it as government land.
HYDRAA Commissioner A. V. Ranganath had previously stated that the agency reclaimed 923 acres of government land valued at Rs 50,000 crore over the past year.
The agency's reclamation efforts have included 923.14 acres of land, lakes, parks, nalas, and roads.
Since its inception on July 19 of last year, HYDRAA has conducted 96 operations to remove around 581 encroachments.
The reclaimed land comprises 424 acres of government property, 233 acres of lakes, and 218 acres of roads. Additionally, encroachments on 15 acres of nala and 25 acres of parks have been removed.
The Commissioner indicated that HYDRAA has received approximately 5000 complaints concerning encroachments on lakes, parks, roads, nalas, government land, and illegal layouts.
