Hyderabad, Aug 15 (NationPress) Describing HYDRAA as a vital system for safeguarding Hyderabad by addressing encroachments on water bodies and parks, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday criticized Opposition parties for attempting to gain political advantage by misrepresenting the agency.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has safeguarded government assets valued at Rs. 30,000 crore and has liberated 13 parks and 20 lakes from illegal encroachments.

At the main official event held at the historic Golconda Fort to celebrate the 79th Independence Day, CM Reddy remarked that those wishing to see Hyderabad suffer water scarcity and face challenges during heavy rain are opposing HYDRAA.

“HYDRAA is providing exceptional services to tackle traffic issues and redirect floodwaters within an hour or two during heavy rainfall. It is also actively working against unlawful constructions and restoring water bodies,” he stated.

CM Reddy emphasized that HYDRAA was established to transform Hyderabad into a secure living environment and to prevent the encroachment of water bodies. He noted that cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai are grappling with flood issues, asserting that Hyderabad should not fall into the same predicament.

He mentioned the ‘TelanganaRising – 2047’ vision document, which promises a lasting solution to Hyderabad's flooding concerns through the Musi Rejuvenation Project. This vision aims to revitalize Hyderabad, which currently faces flood challenges, into a clean and attractive city.

The document also outlines plans for India’s Future City, designed to meet international standards, serving as a gateway to the modern world, he said.

“TelanganaRising – 2047 is a comprehensive strategy to radically enhance Telangana’s image, including the construction of the Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat, greenfield highways, dry ports, second phase Metro Rail, radial roads linking the Outer and Regional Ring Roads, and new airports in Warangal and Adilabad. Our aim is to realize this resolution, positioning Telangana as a significant contributor to the nation’s progress by 2047,” he added.

The vision aims to elevate Telangana to a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

He pointed out that the previous BRS government left behind significant debts totaling Rs 8,21,652 crore.

“Since the Congress government took over, we have managed to service debts amounting to Rs 2,20,676 crore, which includes Rs 1,32,498 crore in principal and Rs 88,178 crore in interest to date,” he said.

Referring to the Young India Skill University and Young India Sports University as his two most cherished initiatives, CM Reddy expressed confidence that these institutions would shape the future of Telangana.

The government is committed to making Telangana a sports hub of the nation and has introduced a new sports policy aimed at producing elite athletes and securing gold medals in future Olympics.

The state government has also decided to establish the Young India Physical Education and Sports University of Telangana (YIPESU). A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the Korean National Sports University for the management of this institution.

CM Reddy stated that the government is also launching Young India Schools and a university to promote education and skills development. Young India Schools will be set up on 25 acres of land in each constituency. He believes these institutions will be transformative in India’s education sector, with 78 schools currently under construction at a cost of Rs 15,600 crore.

“My People's Government has adopted a dual approach. On one front, we are aiming to compete with global cities, and on the other, we are delivering welfare benefits to meet the needs of the less privileged. Our governance is marked by clarity of thought and transparency in execution. We have chosen an inclusive development strategy that involves everyone, resulting in remarkable achievements. In just 20 months, we have positioned Telangana as a model for the nation, setting new standards for transparency in governance, modernity in development, and welfare,” CM Reddy concluded.
