New Delhi, Nov 26 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, Jitin Prasada, is set to officially launch the fifth iteration of the India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) on November 27–28, as announced by the Ministry of Electronics and IT on Wednesday.
The inaugural day will occur at the India Habitat Centre, while the second day’s sessions will take place at the India International Centre.
Key figures such as Joint Secretary, MeitY, Sushil Pal, and NIXI CEO, Dr Devesh Tyagi, will be in attendance.
The forum expects participation from various stakeholders, including government officials, tech corporations, civil society representatives, academic institutions, and policy experts.
The event aims to unite individuals to deliberate on the future trajectory of India’s internet landscape and pinpoint critical areas requiring attention, according to the ministry.
This year's theme is "Advancing Internet Governance for an Inclusive and Sustainable Viksit Bharat".
Discussions will revolve around three pivotal sub-themes: Inclusive Digital Future, Digital Infrastructure for Resilient and Sustainable Growth, and AI for People, Planet and Progress, emphasizing the safe and responsible application of AI.
Distinguished speakers from the UN IGF, Meta, Google Cloud, CCAOI, and prominent academic institutions will guide the discussions. The two-day event will also feature four panel discussions and twelve workshops, encouraging sectoral, policy, and community-level dialogues.
The India Internet Governance Forum serves as the national chapter of the UN IGF, adopting a multi-stakeholder format that ensures equal representation from government, civil society, industry, technical bodies, and academia.
Established in 2021, the forum's primary objective is to foster open discussions surrounding internet policy challenges, managed by a 14-member committee comprising representatives from diverse sectors.
