New Delhi, Oct 31 (NationPress) National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval emphasized on Friday that effective governance is fundamental in nation-building and safeguarding a nation, paving the way for it to meet its objectives and realize the dreams of its citizens.
During a lecture commemorating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Doval pointed out that a significant challenge in governance today is the growing necessity of keeping the populace content.
“The general public has become more conscious and ambitious, raising their expectations from the government, which has a vested interest in ensuring their satisfaction,” he stated.
Characterizing ineffective governance as a possible trigger for regime transitions, the NSA referenced instances of regime changes via non-institutional means in nations like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
“The strength of a nation resides in its governance. The government’s role through institutions in nation-building highlights that the most crucial individuals are those who establish and foster these institutions,” he remarked.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model, he noted, “India is experiencing a significant transformation, moving away from a particular governance style, societal framework, and even its position in global dynamics.”
He also underscored the structural changes initiated by the current administration to combat institutional corruption, hinting that more measures might be forthcoming.
Doval emphasized that during transitions, clarity of vision is paramount, advising against being distracted by challenges, fears, or adversities.
“Preparation and readiness are essential. This was the essence of Vallabhai Patel’s life,” he said, illustrating how Patel, as a key figure in the freedom struggle, supported Mahatma Gandhi and later unified over 500 princely states post-independence.
He credited Patel’s foresight in establishing a nationwide services framework that fortified governance.
Highlighting key aspects of sound governance, the NSA emphasized the importance of protection, safety, and providing a sense of equality and empowerment to women.
“Empowering women is essential for effective governance in today’s world. It’s not just about having good laws and systems but ensuring they are implemented efficiently,” he stated.
Doval called for leveraging technology in governance. “We must utilize technology to promote greater transparency, accountability, and service delivery to the populace, while also establishing protective measures against technological threats,” he said.
