New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) The uncertainty regarding the health of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated, is escalating after unconfirmed reports from Afghan media suggested that he may have passed away while being held at Adiala Jail. In light of these claims, his son, Kasim Khan, has urgently requested proof of his father's survival, along with immediate access and eventual liberation.
Kasim took to X on Thursday to express that it has now been 845 days since Imran Khan's imprisonment, noting that his father is allegedly confined to a death cell for the past six weeks, cut off from family communication.
"For the past six weeks, he has been kept alone in a death cell in an environment of complete isolation. His sisters have been barred from every meeting, despite clear court orders. No phone calls, no meetings, and no news of his well-being. My brother and I have not been able to contact our father in any way," Kasim stated.
He claimed that such a high level of secrecy is not merely a routine security measure but rather a deliberate effort to obscure Khan’s state and restrict communication with his family.
"Let it be clear that the Pakistani government and its masters will bear full legal, moral, and international responsibility for my father's safety and every consequence of this inhumane isolation," he asserted.
Labeling the situation as “inhumane,” Kasim called upon global leaders, international judicial bodies, and human rights organizations to take action. He outlined several demands, including verified confirmation of Imran Khan’s status, access to communication as stipulated by court orders, an end to solitary confinement, and what he describes as “politically-motivated imprisonment.”
Khan's sister emphasized that the authorities could easily address the situation by adhering to judicial directives.
“The solution is simple… follow court orders and allow his family, his lawyers, and his party leadership to meet him,” she stated.
The family of Imran Khan has also indicated that the authorities would not dare to harm him, asserting, “The only reason we believe him to be safe is because the authorities would not dare to hurt even a hair on Imran Khan’s head. They are well aware of the consequences… He is the leader of at least 90 percent of Pakistan.”
Imran Khan has been in custody since August 2023, dealing with multiple legal issues that he contends are politically motivated. Earlier this January, he and his wife were found guilty in a corruption case, receiving sentences of 14 years and seven years, respectively.
In March, leaders from Khan’s political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), also asserted that he was being held in a death cell under solitary confinement. PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram remarked at that time that conditions remained harsh both prior to and following the conviction.
As rumors proliferate and official silence continues, the international community is closely monitoring how Pakistani authorities will respond to the increasing calls for transparency regarding Khan’s condition and legal standing.
