Islamabad, Nov 28 (NationPress) The family of Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has expressed grave concerns regarding his safety, alleging that he is being subjected to illegal isolation within Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, where he has been denied access to family members, legal representatives, or party officials for several weeks.

In a forceful statement, the family remarked, "Imran Khan is in illegal isolation. Many are inquiring about his health and safety, but the reality is, we have no means to obtain verified information from anyone."

They further stated that, while media sources frequently reference official announcements from prison authorities, "we do not trust a single word from them."

Khan’s sister pointed out that the authorities could remedy this situation by adhering to judicial mandates.

"The solution is straightforward... comply with court orders and permit his family, lawyers, and party leadership to visit him."

They cautioned that the authorities would not dare to harm him, stating, "The only reason we believe he is safe is that the authorities would not risk harming even a hair on Imran Khan's head. They are acutely aware of the repercussions… He is the leader of at least 90 percent of Pakistan."

The family noted that their last substantial meeting with Khan was on October 16, coinciding with the conclusion of the jail trial involving him and Bushra Bibi. Since that date, only Dr. Uzma Khan has been allowed two brief visits — on October 28 and November 4 — each lasting about 20 minutes.

"Since then, we have faced total isolation, with no access to family, lawyers, or party members whatsoever."

They also revealed that officials recently informed them that no meetings would be allowed "until Asim Munir receives his extension notification." The family questioned this rationale, asking, "Why is a family’s access dependent on a government servant's extension?"

As speculation regarding Imran Khan's health proliferates on social media, Adiala Jail officials have denied claims that the PTI founder has passed away or been secretly transferred.

Local media reports indicate that Rawalpindi prison authorities stated, "There is no truth to rumors regarding his transfer from Adiala Jail. He is in good health and receiving full medical attention." They dismissed the rumors as "baseless" and assured that his well-being is being protected.

Khan has been incarcerated since August 2023 and faces multiple charges, including corruption and terrorism.

The PTI has urged the government to "clearly refute and clarify the rumors and urgently facilitate a meeting between Imran and his family." The party emphasized that the government is accountable for safeguarding Khan’s security, human rights, and constitutional rights, vowing to pursue legal and political measures to clarify the situation.
