Mumbai, March 9 (NationPress) The Union Culture and Tourism Minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, graced the current edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) in Jaipur alongside Diya Kumari, one of the Deputy Chief Ministers of Rajasthan.
The two engaged in discussions regarding India and Rajasthan's escalating influence across various sectors.
During an interaction with the media on the green carpet, the Union Minister declared that India is poised to become the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) capital of the world.
He elaborated, "Since 2014, India has experienced remarkable growth in infrastructure, including the construction of over 150,000 km of roads, new railway stations, semi high-speed trains, inland waterways, and more than 150 operational airports."
He continued, "These developments have significantly enhanced India's capabilities in hosting MICE events. The confidence gained from India's successful hosting of G20 nations has captured the world's attention. In the near future, India will undoubtedly emerge as the MICE capital of the world."
Deputy CM Diya Kumari highlighted the potential of tourism as a transformative force in Rajasthan's economy.
She stated, "Celebrities and filmmakers have produced short clips promoting Rajasthan tourism. We will share these clips on our social media channels, which will encourage filmmakers to choose Rajasthan as a shooting location, ultimately benefiting the state's economy. Currently, tourism contributes 12 percent to Rajasthan's economy, and we aim to raise this figure to between 25 and 50 percent."
The IIFA ceremony is scheduled for Sunday in Jaipur.
The latest edition, celebrating the remarkable milestone of 25 years of the prestigious film awards, will gather numerous celebrities, content creators, and global media to honor Hindi cinema.
