India Denounces Pakistan's Credibility on Terrorism Claims
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) India has once again criticized Pakistan, labeling it as a decades-long state sponsor of terrorism that lacks credibility regarding cross-border terrorism. Responding firmly to Islamabad's accusations of India's involvement in the ongoing conflict along the Durand Line with Afghanistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that no one is deceived by Pakistan's assumed victimhood.
During a media briefing on Thursday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that it has become customary for Pakistan to shift blame onto India for its own actions.
“We reject these unfounded allegations. It has become second nature for Pakistan to blame India for its misdeeds. As a state sponsor of terrorism for decades, Pakistan has zero credibility when it comes to cross-border terrorism. No amount of storytelling can change this reality, nor is anyone deceived by Pakistan's assumed victimhood,” stated Jaiswal.
The latest hostilities between Afghanistan and Pakistan escalated after Afghan forces initiated retaliatory operations against Pakistani military positions on February 27, following Islamabad’s actions targeting Afghan territory on February 21. After Afghanistan's response, Pakistan began 'Operation Ghazab lil-Haq' (Righteous Fury) to counter what it described as “unprovoked firing” from Afghan forces across various border sectors.
This week, India condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghanistan and pointed out the hypocrisy of conducting such attacks during the month of Ramadan, resulting in the deaths of mostly women and children while preaching “Islamic solidarity”.
“It is hypocritical to advocate high principles of international law and Islamic solidarity while conducting ruthless airstrikes during the sacred month of Ramadan,” remarked India’s Permanent Representative, P Harish, at the UN Security Council on Monday.
The airstrikes have reportedly claimed the lives of 185 innocent civilians as of March 6, 2026, with approximately 55% being women and children.
“India vehemently condemns the airstrikes on Afghan territory, which are blatant violations of international law, the UN Charter, and the principle of state sovereignty,” he asserted.
While Harish did not name Pakistan directly, his remarks were clearly aimed at it. Pakistan has justified its attacks by claiming that Afghanistan harbors terrorists operating from its territory.
In contrast, Harish highlighted that it is Islamabad that employs terrorist organizations as proxies to target its neighbors.
“Terrorism continues to be a global menace affecting humanity, and only through the coordinated efforts of the international community can we ensure that groups like ISIL, Al Qaida, and their affiliates, including Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, along with their proxies, cease to engage in cross-border terrorism,” he noted.
In a recent attack across the border, the Resistance Front executed a religiously motivated terrorist act in Pahalgam in April, resulting in 26 fatalities.
