Union Power Minister Manohar Lal was introduced to the app, showcasing how both consumers and prosumers can effortlessly trade their excess solar energy. Part of the India Energy Stack initiative, PowerXchange has been chosen as one of only two platforms across the country to spearhead P2P energy trading. The development of this technology and user registration was facilitated by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). During the live demonstration, beneficiary Lakshmi Gaba, a small boutique owner, utilized the app's AI voice assistant to procure electricity, exemplifying its ease of use.
The event drew attendance from key officials, including R.S. Sharma, Chairman of India Energy Stack; Ashish Goyal, Chairman of UPPCL; Alok Kumar, DG of All India Discom Association; Reggie Kumar Pillai, ISGF Chairman; Jitendra Srivastava, CMD of REC Limited; Prince Dhawan, ED of REC Limited; and Shweta Ravi Kumar, ED of FSR Global, along with representatives from Tata Power-DDL, BSES Rajdhani Private Limited, PVVNL, and UPPCL, in addition to delegates participating in the Global AI Summit.
Leveraging blockchain, AI, and machine learning technologies, PowerXchange aspires to ensure that every household achieves energy independence while extending government solar initiatives to citizens nationwide. Officials indicated that this platform will bolster transparency, efficiency, and a consumer-centric approach within India’s energy market.
