New Delhi, Oct 26 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the five-day India Maritime Week 2025 on Monday at NESCO Grounds in Mumbai. Scheduled from October 27 to 31, this event is anticipated to be the largest maritime assembly in the world.
Delegates from 11 countries, alongside their industry representatives, will engage in various discussions over the five-day period, highlighting the increasing global interest in India’s maritime industry.
Hosted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, under the theme ‘Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision’, IMW 2025 aims to illustrate India’s strategic ambition to become a global maritime hub and a frontrunner in the Blue Economy.
The Home Minister will be accompanied by Chief Ministers from several states including Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra, Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat, Pramod Sawant of Goa, and Mohan Charan Majhi of Odisha.
According to Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, “India Maritime Week is not just an event; it will establish India as a global maritime hub, advocate for sustainable shipping, and boost international maritime trade and connectivity.”
IMW 2025 is expected to attract over 100,000 delegates and confirmed participation from more than 85 countries. Key players from the global maritime industry, international organizations, and think tanks will be present. Several state ministers and lieutenant governors from across India will also join, showcasing investment prospects and regional maritime capabilities, as stated by the Ministry.
A significant feature of the India Maritime Week 2025 will be the address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will speak to the nation, global maritime leaders, and stakeholders on the evening of October 29 during a special plenary session.
In addition to the public address, the Prime Minister will lead a high-level global CEO forum with select international CEOs from leading maritime firms worldwide.
With over 350 international speakers, IMW 2025 is set to be a center for industry expertise and strategic discussions. The event will see the signing of over 600 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), amounting to more than Rs 10 lakh crore in investment commitments.
A comprehensive exhibition featuring over 400 exhibitors will take place alongside a broad conference schedule. IMW 2025 will include more than 12 flagship events, such as the 4th edition of Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS 2025), QUAD Ports of the Future Conference, Sagarmanthan – The Great Oceans Dialogue, SheEO Conference, UNESCAP Asia-Pacific Dialogue, and others.
The event will also feature four country sessions, including Norway, The Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden, along with 11 state/UT sessions, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
