Mumbai, Oct 25 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to officially launch ‘India Maritime Week 2025’ on October 27 at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai. The Union Minister is also scheduled to deliver the keynote address, establishing the foundation for a significant five-day event aimed at positioning India as a global maritime leader.

Organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) in partnership with the Indian Ports Association (IPA), this event will take place from October 27 to 31, 2025. It is anticipated to draw top industry leaders, policymakers, investors, innovators, and international stakeholders to discuss sustainable maritime growth, trade expansion, and the evolution of India’s “blue economy”.

The inaugural session will feature the presence of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State Shantanu Thakur, as well as Chief Ministers from key coastal states — Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), Bhupendra Patel (Gujarat), Pramod Sawant (Goa), and Mohan Charan Majhi (Odisha). Their participation highlights the strategic significance of maritime infrastructure in propelling regional and national economic growth.

Spanning five days, India Maritime Week 2025 will showcase an extensive lineup of exhibitions, panel discussions, and interactive sessions that highlight groundbreaking opportunities in ports, shipping, logistics, and maritime technology. Experts will delve into themes such as green shipping, digital transformation in logistics, cruise tourism, and port-led industrial development.

This event aligns with the government’s Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, with the goal of enhancing India’s global maritime presence. Over 95% of India’s trade by volume is conducted through its ports; thus, the week will act as a platform to attract investments, cultivate international partnerships, and expedite infrastructure projects like “Sagarmala”.

Organizers expect participation from over 100 countries, around 500 exhibitors, and approximately 100,000 delegates, making it one of the largest maritime gatherings in the region. B2B meetings, MoU signings, and policy roundtables will facilitate actionable outcomes.

In anticipation of the event, a senior MoPSW official remarked that India Maritime Week 2025 is more than just an exhibition—it is a catalyst for transforming India into a global maritime hub through innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. With India’s port capacity currently exceeding 1,600 MTPA and ship turnaround time reduced to less than a day, the event is timely as the nation aims for 10,000 MTPA by 2047.

Key focus areas will encompass green hydrogen hubs, offshore wind energy, and deep-sea mineral exploration. As Mumbai gears up to host this global maritime summit, India Maritime Week 2025 is set to chart a bold course for India’s blue economy and reinforce its role within global trade corridors.
