During the 130th episode of his monthly radio show Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister remarked, "Today, our culture and festivals are being recognized globally. Indian festivities are celebrated with immense enthusiasm and joy in every corner of the world. Our Bharatvanshis, our brothers and sisters of Indian heritage, are crucial in sustaining the vibrancy of our culture. Wherever they are, they actively preserve and promote the essence of their traditions."
PM Modi underscored the contributions of the Indian community in Malaysia, labeling their efforts as "commendable." He highlighted the significant presence of Indian languages and customs in the country.
"You might be surprised to learn that there are over 500 Tamil schools in Malaysia. Besides teaching the Tamil language, various subjects are also instructed in Tamil. Additionally, with Telugu and Punjabi, there is a significant emphasis on other Indian languages as well," he noted.
The Prime Minister also commended the Malaysia-India Heritage Society for its role in fortifying historical and cultural connections between the two nations.
"In addition to various initiatives, this organization also conducts a heritage walk that explores cultural sites linking the two countries," he stated.
Referring to a recent cultural celebration, PM Modi highlighted that last month, the 'Lal Paad Saree' iconic walk took place in Malaysia.
"This saree holds a special significance in our Bengal culture. This event set a record for the largest gathering of individuals donning this saree, recognized in the Malaysian Book of Records. During this event, Odissi dance and Baul music captivated the audience," he shared.
Expressing pride in the Indian community abroad, the Prime Minister added, "I take immense pride in the Indian diaspora in Malaysia; they are bridging the gap between India and Malaysia. My best wishes to our Indian community in Malaysia."
