New Delhi, Oct 18 (NationPress) Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju, emphasized India’s escalating cultural impact and economic growth while addressing the NDTV World Summit in the capital.
He remarked on India’s profound civilizational heritage, stating that the global community is increasingly acknowledging not only the country’s ancient Vedic knowledge systems but also its time-honored traditions of storytelling, visual arts, and narrative forms grounded in Natyashastra and other classical disciplines.
“From yoga to Ayurveda, from Bollywood to Indian cinema, from theater to diversity — these are India’s instruments of soft power that resonate across the globe,” he conveyed to IANS, underscoring that as India ascends as a key global economy, its cultural footprint is also becoming increasingly significant worldwide.
He asserted that the capability to narrate tales from an Indian viewpoint is essential in molding global stories. “As we elevate ourselves, it is crucial that we share our version of stories with the world,” he highlighted, adding that cultural expression is fundamentally tied to India’s international outreach.
In reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Swadeshi’, Jaju mentioned that this initiative transcends mere economic self-sufficiency.
“It is not only a strategic necessity but also a cultural mandate — to convey our stories to the world in our authentic voice,” he stated.
He emphasized that self-reliance also entails bolstering India’s media, entertainment, and creative sectors to convey a confident narrative of a new India — one that is deeply rooted in heritage yet forward-looking.
As India continues to establish its presence on the global stage, its soft power mechanisms will be equally crucial alongside its economic and strategic advancements, he concluded.
