Mumbai, Feb 26 (NationPress) India has successfully finalized nine free trade agreements (FTAs) involving 38 countries, providing Indian enterprises with preferential access to almost two-thirds of global trade, stated Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

These FTAs will enable Indian products—including goods, services, agricultural and fisheries offerings, as well as labour-intensive sectors—to tap into new markets, integrate into global value chains, and boost talent mobility, he added.

Goyal emphasized that Aatmanirbhar Bharat aims to create resilient, reliable, and diversified supply chains through international collaboration.

He urged entrepreneurs and industry leaders to seize global opportunities for MSMEs, farmers, exporters, and fishermen nationwide, expressing optimism that the youth of India will drive the country toward becoming a developed economy by 2047 during the 'Amrit Kaal' period.

During his keynote at the 27th 'EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards' in Mumbai, he affirmed that India's growth trajectory will persist relentlessly, fueled by its entrepreneurs and youth, and called on all stakeholders to unite in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Goyal highlighted that India's youth and human capital are central to the nation's growth narrative.

Reflecting on discussions with founders and business leaders, he pointed out that passion, innovation, and skilled manpower are significant competitive advantages for India.

Addressing concerns regarding Artificial Intelligence and employment, Goyal stated that AI will transform job roles rather than replace them.

He mentioned that India generates approximately 2.3 million STEM graduates annually and has an unparalleled reservoir of young, adaptable, and ambitious talent.

Drawing comparisons to the Y2K period, he characterized AI as the next critical turning point that will foster better opportunities, higher-value work, stronger exports, and deeper global integration for Indian firms, while simultaneously increasing the demand for professionals in fields such as cybersecurity, data protection, and system governance.

He also presented awards at the event, which gathered leading entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and startup founders from across the nation.

Point of View

The completion of nine FTAs presents a pivotal moment for India, enhancing its global trade footprint. The emphasis on youth and skilled manpower indicates a strategic approach to harnessing the potential of the next generation. While the impact on various sectors is promising, it remains essential for stakeholders to navigate these changes collectively to realize a robust economic future.
