Tokyo, May 24 (NationPress) A multi-party parliamentary delegation led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha recently wrapped up a pivotal outreach mission in Japan, engaging with the Indian diaspora in Tokyo and highlighting India's firm and united stance against cross-border terrorism, particularly the attacks supported by Pakistan.
The delegation included MPs Aparajita Sarangi and Brij Lal (BJP), Abhishek Banerjee (Trinamool Congress), John Brittas (CPI-M), and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid. They emphasized the significance of Operation Sindoor as a strategic evolution in India’s counter-terrorism approach.
They portrayed this military operation as India's “new normal” amid persistent cross-border threats, urging the global Indian community to spread awareness about India's message on terrorism.
During their visit to the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, Jha clarified the delegation's mission: “The aim is to help the diaspora grasp the reality of ongoing terror threats. Many overseas may not fully understand the situation, and it's essential to inform the international community about Pakistan's direct involvement through its government and military in such acts.”
The Indian Embassy noted that the delegation thoroughly outlined Pakistan's role in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in multiple casualties, and how India responded by dismantling nine major terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
“They underscored India's zero tolerance for terrorism and conveyed the strong message that dialogue and terrorism cannot coexist. Blood and water cannot flow together,” stated the Embassy in a post on X.
Jha also showcased images from Pakistan's state funeral for terrorists neutralized in Operation Sindoor, unveiling what he described as the “true face” of the rogue state.
He pointed out that while India has emerged as the world's fourth-largest economy, Pakistan remains deeply unstable.
“I visited Srinagar, which is reliant on tourism. After the terror attack, the local community has suffered greatly,” Jha remarked.
He referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in Bihar's Madhubani on April 24, where the PM warned that India would not only expose the sponsors of terror but also actively target their bases, excluding civilian infrastructure.
“This is India's new normal,” Jha asserted.
A moment of silence was observed by attendees to honor the victims of the Pahalgam attack.
In an interview with IANS, BJP MP Hemang Joshi noted, “During our three-day visit, we met several distinguished Japanese leaders, including the former Prime Minister, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Foreign Minister, and the Defence Minister. We provided detailed information about India's anti-terror operations and stressed the necessity of a united global response.”
He added that Japan reaffirmed its support for India’s fight against terrorism. Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee expressed satisfaction with the discussions and even invited members of the diaspora to Kolkata for this year’s Durga Puja.
BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi echoed similar sentiments, stating, “We met with top political figures in Japan, including the Foreign Minister and the former Prime Minister. We conveyed India’s clear position on terrorism, and we are pleased with the response.”
The delegation concluded its visit with a floral tribute at the tomb of freedom fighter Rash Behari Bose at Tokyo's Tama Cemetery on the eve of his birth anniversary. The trip commenced with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, symbolizing India’s historical commitment to peace and resilience.
In a statement, the Embassy articulated, “India today stands united with a resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms.”
