New Delhi, Jan 15 (NationPress) Prominent startup founders in India expressed on Thursday that the nation's startup ecosystem has experienced remarkable growth over the last ten years, fueled by consistent policymaking, a supportive government, and a robust entrepreneurial spirit. As the Startup India initiative approaches its tenth anniversary on January 16, these entrepreneurs assert that India has become one of the most appealing locations for global investors, and the outlook for entrepreneurship in the country appears promising.
Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath remarked that the past decade has been a phenomenal time for startups in India, particularly when viewed alongside other international markets.
“The stability and consistency in policies have provided India with a competitive advantage over other regions,” he commented.
Kamath also pointed out that global investors, while showing caution towards Europe, China, and even the United States, remain optimistic about India's potential.
“India’s startup narrative has been communicated effectively on global platforms, boosting investor interest,” he mentioned.
“Entrepreneurship has gained social acceptance and has become trendy among young Indians,” Kamath added.
OYO founder and CEO Ritesh Aggarwal shared his insights from discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to him as a “startup Prime Minister.”
“The Prime Minister possesses a unique ability to envision grand ideas while also ensuring meticulous execution at the grassroots level,” Aggarwal stated.
He credited initiatives like Startup India for transforming societal perceptions about entrepreneurship, even within families.
“My own mother began to view entrepreneurship as a respectable career only after the government provided robust support to startups at the national level,” Aggarwal noted.
MapmyIndia CEO and Executive Director Rohan Verma expressed that the Prime Minister’s long-term vision for Digital India and Startup India has been a source of inspiration for young innovators.
“Such leadership sends a compelling message to upcoming generations and will significantly influence India’s innovation landscape for the next two decades,” Verma emphasized.
Meesho co-founder Sanjeev Barnwal indicated that India's startup landscape has flourished since 2014, thanks to initiatives like Startup India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Policybazaar CEO and co-founder Yashish Dahiya remarked that the government's emphasis on “less government, more governance” has laid a solid groundwork for startups.
“Startup India has fostered a nationwide entrepreneurial movement, reaching various districts and states across the country,” he concluded.
