Will Patna Airport Return to Full Normalcy by the End of December?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Dec 10 (NationPress) As the IndiGo flight crisis stretches into its ninth day, Patna Airport Director C.P. Dwivedi spoke to the media on Wednesday, shedding light on the factors contributing to the significant disruption faced by passengers due to ongoing flight cancellations.
Dwivedi emphasized that the issue is not confined to Patna but is part of a broader national challenge stemming from technical difficulties affecting some IndiGo aircraft.
Due to the necessary technical inspections and maintenance, IndiGo has temporarily scaled back operations on various routes throughout India.
The Airport Director confirmed that several IndiGo flights will remain cancelled until December 15 as the airline conducts essential technical checks.
He mentioned that despite the ongoing cancellations, the local IndiGo team has acted swiftly, allowing operations at Patna Airport to largely return to normal.
Previously operating 40–50 flights daily from Patna, IndiGo has had to significantly decrease this number recently.
Dwivedi remarked that the process of reinstating services has commenced, and most flights are gradually returning to their usual schedules.
He further noted that IndiGo intends to keep flight operations at a reduced capacity until mid-December for safety-related inspections, after which it is anticipated that normal flight frequency will resume by the end of December.
Dwivedi assured that every effort has been made to assist affected passengers.
“All passenger complaints have been prioritized,” he stated, adding that the airport’s official Twitter handle is actively providing updates to ensure timely and accurate information.
To further support stranded passengers, a railway help desk has been established at the airport, facilitating alternate travel options when necessary.
Dwivedi indicated that passenger feedback has been positive, and the airport administration is vigilantly monitoring the situation to avert further disruptions.
Meanwhile, travelers at Jayprakash Narayan International Airport, Patna, have been experiencing significant inconvenience for the ninth consecutive day.
On Wednesday, numerous passengers missed job interviews and critical commitments, while others faced long waits at the airport.
A total of 8 IndiGo flights to Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and other destinations were cancelled.
