Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) The government announced on Friday its decision to launch a high-level investigation into the significant disruptions experienced by IndiGo Airlines. This inquiry aims to uncover the causes behind the airline's shortcomings, hold responsible parties accountable, and propose strategies to avert future incidents, ensuring that passengers do not endure such difficulties again.
Amid the turmoil, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated, "We foresee that flight operations will start to stabilize and return to their normal state by tomorrow. Full restoration of services is expected within the next three days." Thousands of travelers have faced distressing experiences at airports nationwide during this period.
To assist passengers, airlines have been directed to deliver timely and precise updates via improved online information systems, allowing travelers to check real-time flight statuses from home, the minister noted.
“In the event of flight cancellations, airlines will automatically process full refunds without requiring passengers to submit requests. Additionally, stranded travelers due to excessive delays will receive hotel accommodations directly arranged by the airlines,” the minister elaborated.
The ministry indicated that swift and proactive actions have been taken to rectify the ongoing flight schedule disruptions, particularly those affecting Indigo Airlines.
Immediate suspension of the Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) orders from the DGCA has been enacted.
“This decision, made without compromising air safety, is intended solely for the benefit of passengers, especially vulnerable groups like senior citizens, students, and patients who depend on timely air travel for essential purposes,” the minister stated.
Moreover, several operational directives have been issued to ensure the prompt restoration of standard airline services and significantly alleviate the inconvenience faced by travelers.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has also set up a 24/7 control room to monitor the situation in real-time, guaranteeing quick corrective actions, effective coordination, and immediate resolution of any emerging issues.
