New Delhi, Oct 2 (NationPress) Following talks between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding a peace initiative for Gaza, the White House unveiled a 20-point plan on Monday. This plan emphasizes that Hamas must relinquish hostages, cede power in Gaza, and disarm.
Amidst these developments, reports surfaced indicating that Pakistan intends to deploy troops to Gaza as part of a coalition of Muslim nations aimed at peacekeeping. This revelation highlights the hypocrisy of Pakistan, which has been actively training Hamas on its territory.
Recently, numerous Hamas leaders shared a platform in Pakistan alongside members of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad during the observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Hamas has been in Pakistan for several months, participating in training camps organized by the LeT and JeM.
Officials from the Intelligence Bureau have indicated that the training provided by the Pakistan Army and ISI is not intended to prepare Hamas for a conflict with Israel.
Currently, Pakistan is cautious about interfering in Palestine due to the US's stance on the matter.
The ISI has incorporated Hamas into its operations, training them for potential involvement in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, India, and Bangladesh.
The Pakistan Army is struggling with opposition from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP).
Having sustained significant losses to these groups, the army seeks assistance from Hamas.
Engaging LeT or JeM against the TTP and BLA is not feasible as many of their members have established connections with the Taliban and prefer to avoid conflict with the TTP.
Moreover, the ISI aims to restrict the LeT and JeM's activities to Jammu and Kashmir, while Hamas is designated to confront the BLA and TTP.
The ISI also plans to utilize Hamas in Bangladesh for strikes in northeastern states.
Although there are terrorist organizations in Bangladesh, such as Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islami (HuJI) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JuMB), their members lack the combat experience of Hamas.
Hamas's presence in Pakistan is not a recent phenomenon, as its leaders have been visiting since 2024, addressing conferences related to Israel and Kashmir.
Intelligence reports also indicate that, at the ISI's direction, Hamas leaders have frequently traveled to Bangladesh, primarily with the objective of destabilizing India and leveraging Hamas's capabilities for potential rocket attacks similar to those against Israel.
The ISI is nurturing Hamas as a critical asset against India.
An official remarked that this behavior typifies Pakistan's tendency to betray allies; while publicly courting the US, it simultaneously harbors a terrorist organization that counters Washington's interests. After the 9/11 attacks, Pakistan allied with the US in the war on terror, yet offered refuge to Osama Bin Laden, the orchestrator of the attacks.
